@AnonymousBecause the total number of victims sent to slaughter was between 11 and 17 million people. Though 6 million of those were jews, about 7 million of them were Romas, Catholics, homosexuals, and the Polish. All of them were mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunts, cousins, boyfriends, girlfriends, rabbis and priests, storeowners and politicians, children and elderly. Many were tortured and experimented on by Nazi doctors. Not all Germans were bad, many were killed for attempting to help these victims escape. Not to forget the fact that while all this was going on, the rest of the world turned a blind eye for several years because they simply did not believe the horror of the stories being reported. We have a remembrance day because we will never forget. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. -George Santayana
